The Lincoln Theatre

The historical Lincoln Theatre originally opened in 1922 but closed sometime during the year of 1968 because of riots taking place in Washington. The theatre was eventually restored and reopened in 1994 for a variety of events and performances. The Lincoln Theatre began the restoration process in 1993 and became a part of the National Register of Historical Places. The original designers were Reginald Geare and Harry Grandall, and the restoration design was handled by Leo A. Daly. Once the restoration process began in 1989 by Jeffery N. Cohen it was eventually taken over by the District government and the foundation. The Lincoln Theatre holds 1,250 people and now houses theatre events such as plays, musicals, and concerts throughout the year.
