The second wave of the British Invasion kicked off in 1967 when the seeds of psychedelia spread by the Beatles epic releases of that year spawned new creative heights among many of the British bands that had conquered America. The next few years also saw the emergence of hard edged and sometimes trippy British blues finding its way into many of the new bands coming from the U.K.
Many of the first wave British Invasion bands such as The Who, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and The Zombies released their most accomplished records in that time period. Meanwhile, new bands like Cream, Traffic, Free and Led Zeppelin sprang up causing the music world to stop and take notice.
In 2010, BandHouse Gigs presented a two-night A Tribute to the British Invasion 1964-66, one of our most popular productions. This new show continues the journey, following up with the anticipated second wave of one of the most exciting shows that BandHouse has produced. BandHouse Gigs has established itself as the area’s premier production company, putting on 25 sold out tributes to iconic stars and musical movements over the past 12 years. As only BandHouse Gigs can do, their Tribute to the British Invasion Second Wave 1967-73 promises a trip back in time with over 40 of the D.C. area’s most exciting performers.
