American History (After Hours): Flavoring America

The museum’s regular After Hours series is back with its annual summer FOOD in the Garden events, this August 10 and 17. Join us outdoors in the museum’s newest garden space for an evening (or two) of food, drinks, and dynamic conversation.

On August 10 we will explore how the historical movements of people and their culinary traditions influenced foodways in America. Specifically, we’ll focus on how herbs and spices from around the world and across the country introduced new flavors and textures.

The evening will feature a panel discussion with experts and historians and an interactive reception with:
● Custom cocktails courtesy of New Columbia Distillers
● Tours of Common Ground: Our American Garden with Smithsonian Gardens
● Interactive activities with Smithsonian Gardens
● More to be announced soon!

Tickets include food and drink. This is a 21+ event.
