Buddhagraph Spaceship is an American rock band from Asheville, North Carolina with roots stretching from the old time to the far side and all foundations between. Creating a bridge between accoustic and electronic improvisation, they blend elements of Funk, Jam, Folk, Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz, Americana, Progressive Rock, Reggae, and much more to achieve their eclectic sound. With a passion for creativity and the motivation to push boundaries, the band functions upon a musical paradigm for the further of artistic expression.
Buddhagraph Spaceship was created in the spring of 2014 and has since been an active influence on the Virginia music scene.
The Kind Thieves
A group of 8 from the heart of Appalachia, The Kind Thieves are unique in the way that they are a chameleon of a musical experience.
Transitioning from a bluegrass wildfire to a psychedelic experience, you never know what to expect. Many members being multi-instrumentalists, the style stays switching up and the jams stay fresh for your listening pleasure!
With John Colby Elswick dancing between the electric guitar & dobro, Drew Shinhearts plucking the bass, Annie Starshine sliding around on the fiddle, Archibald Johnson picking the acoustic and electric guitars, Andrew Brown beating the skins, Dustin Roberts on auxiliary percussion & ukulele, Gary Reynolds on Trumpet and Banjo, and Jason Lockart on the keys, this diverse group of musicians from different musical backgrounds and areas creates a distinct fusion that is hard to define with a label.
fᴏяᴄᴇs is a genre-bending experimental indie band. Ethereal yet earthy; Sweet yet gritty; their songs will flow you down a lazy river in summertime, and groove you all the way to outer space. Introspective and raw, their melodies will haunt you.
Mettabbana began collecting international music 8-tracks, cassettes and vinyl as a teen. His sets and production range from raw analog and folkloric presentations from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, the Caribbean, his Balkan homeland and beyond to melding of such sounds with gritty bass and minimal electronic.
He has been a thrust in the DC global music scene by founding a number of global music event series and collectives such as the all-vinyl global vintage groove Analog Soul Club, Tropic of Bass, Crepúsculo Sereno, 1001 Beats, and is a resident DJ + curator with the Meso Creso artistic collective.
Mettabbana will play an all vinyl set for this event.
