Join us to celebrate the official release of Dragonz Rizing: Reclaiming My Time While Wandering Through the Valley, a memoir by Abdur-Rahim Muhammad, founder and director of the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute (HTCMLI).
Dragonz Rizing chronicles Sifu (“teacher”) Rahim’s journey toward finding his purpose: providing refuge for the underserved children of Washington, D.C. As a native fourth-generation Washingtonian, he provides an unique perspective of U Street’s rich albeit tumultuous history from the 1930s through the present. A compelling story about Black excellence, his story takes the reader from the heart of Black culture in Boston, to the streets of Cameroon, through a journey to Mecca and Medina, and back to historic U Street.
This promises to be unlike any book launch you have ever attended—in addition to featured readings by Sifu Rahim, there will be performances and entertainment for all ages!
This is a FREE event, though donations are always welcome. Refreshments will be provided and signed copies will be available for purchase.
All proceeds from book sales will benefit, HTCMLI, a registered 501c(3) nonprofit organization.
