Love jazz? Love history? To celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month 2017 this April, Smithsonian Jazz at the National Museum of American History presents rarely-seen jazz objects, instruments, and archives from our collections every Tuesday. Come explore jazz history every Tuesday in April from 1-3 p.m. in the Wallace H. Coulter Performance Plaza at the museum.
On Tuesday, April 25, on her official birthdate, we will mark the centennial of accomplished singer, jazz icon, and “First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1996) with artifacts and photographs from our collections. This program connects with a new display the museum will be opening on April 1, 2017: “First Lady of Song: Ella Fitzgerald at 100.” Learn more about the display here: http://americanhistory.si.edu/exhibitions/ella-fitzgerald-100
This program is free to attend, no tickets required.
