Director Tony Aversano has been a Trumpeter in the Washington Metro Area for over twenty Five Years. Tony was brought to the Washington area as Trumpeter for the US Navy Band. After a four year tour with the Navy, he began teaching high school band, orchestra & choir at Marshall High School, Chantilly High School & Shenandoah Conservatory.
The Fairfax Swing Jazz is in its fifth season now. The Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Anthony W. Aversano & Billy Schnepper was formed as a Swing Band extension of the Fairfax Wind Symphony, founded by director Stan Schoonover in the fall of 1999. The Fairfax Swing Jazz Ensemble performs numerous “Big Band” selections from the 1940’s to the 2000’s. They have performed at the 2014 James Madison University Music Camp, in 2013, 2015 & 2016 at the “National Jazz Workshop” hosted by Shenandoah University and with rave response and incredibly spirited performances at the famous BLUES ALLEY of Washington, D.C. in July of 2014, 2015, 2016 and soon to be featured once again on August 1st , 8:00 & 10:00 shows.
