The First Ladies DJ Collective was formed in 2002 as a response to the predominantly male DJ culture of the time. The city’s first all-female DJ crew, they were known for bringing a mix of house, techno, electro, indie, soul, hip-hop, new wave, and more to dance floors.
With a flagship party called Girl Friday at the Black Cat, a regular show on Radio CPR, a monthly night at Galaxy Hut, ladies-only DJing workshops, and performances from New York to Germany, the group helped to transform the musical landscape of DC and beyond. Fifteen years later, the First Ladies are getting back together for one night only. Don’t miss out.
