Philly MC Kur is looking to make a huge splash in 2017, by hopefully landing on the cover of XXL’s Freshman class issue. The rapper is known for a variety of tracks and projects include his collaboration effort with Dave East called Born Broke, Die Rich, his Meek Mill-assisted song “Never Before” and his “Upside Down Cake” series. Last year, he signed a record deal with independent label eOne Music and dropped the Have Not EP.
Fresh off dropping his 180 mixtape, the ascendant Kur returns with a visual for “Come Back,” a video for the first track off the project.
The new visual for “Come Back” finds the Philly MC on the run from several weapon-wielding masked men as he tries to make it back to his home. While we initially thought the dark and violent video might have been inspired by The Purge franchise, Kur’s inspiration was drawn from a 1979 classic.
Kur is only about two weeks removed from dropping 180, but he’s got his eye on conquering the rest of the year with more new music. “My plans for 2017 are to drop a few more projects and videos—all work,” he tells us. “I got a few different vibes coming, so look out for that… I mean some shit you wouldn’t expect from me!”
