No Presents For Christmas is back and will be playing their only 2017 live show on June 2nd at Ram’s Head Live! in downtown Baltimore.
No Presents For Christmas is a Baltimore-based band renowned for their electrifying live performances and catchy originals. Formed in September 1989, No Presents For Christmas quickly evolved from college circuit favorites into a sought-after local act, headlining at all of the classic live music venues throughout the mid-Atlantic region. After a 20-year hiatus, the band regrouped in 2015 and began writing and recording new material that is scheduled to be released sometime next year.
Musically diverse, No Presents For Christmas blend churning electric guitars with driving rhythms and pop stylings that hint at influences ranging from U2, Matthew Sweet, and the Beatles to the Cure and Prince. Their debut release Unify produced classics such as “The Call” and “Dirty Beds” and was named one of the “best in local music” of 1991 by Maryland Musician magazine. After two years of touring and recording, their critically acclaimed follow-up, Pearls Before Swine, was released in November 1993 and described as a “steady, sturdy chunk of pop” and as “a great leap forward for a band who are already very close to the top of the local heap.” The Village Voice hailed the album’s “powerful lyrics backed by heavy beats,” calling it “a disc full of musical exploration.”
