RICO NASTY:
Rico Nasty is the DMV’s brightest young star. Her introduction to the world as a rapper was a 2014 mixtape called Summer’s Eve, which dropped when she was only 16. Her flow drew early comparisons to Chicago rappers like Sasha Go Hard and Katie Got Bandz with a piercing double-time delivery. Since then, Rico’s created a style and sound of her own that she dubs “sugar trap,” a name that doubles as the title of her 2016 mixtape. Her style is similar to the young male rappers of her generation – like Lil Uzi Vert and Trippie Redd – who blend punk-rock fashion sensibilities with those of rap.

Soon after the release of Sugar Trap, songs like “Hey Arnold” and “Choppa in the Trunk” began to make waves and Rico’s name quickly started to spread. In April 2017, the 20-year-old artist was featured on The Fate of the Furious soundtrack before dropping her project, Tales of Tacobella, a month later. Rico’s breakout moment came in May 2017 shortly after the release of her hit-single, “Poppin”. The video amassed over 2.5 million views on YouTube and was featured on HBO’s hit series Insecure. Rico carried that momentum through the release of her most recent project, Sugar Trap 2, a 14-track effort that features hit songs like “Key Lime OG” and “White.”

ABBY JASMINE:
Staten Island native Abby Jasmine, is best known for her viral comedic videos across multiple social media platforms. With over 720,000 followers, across Instagram, Twitter, and Musical.ly, the 19-year old has created a following largely based on freestyle rap videos, parodies & short skits. Towards the end of 2017, Abby released two freestyles; “Long Live” and “Bless Yo Trap”. They’ve accumulated over 140,000 plays via Soundcloud & Audiomack. Abby also came out with the video for “Long Live” on January 31st, premiering it with Karen Civil. Stay tuned for a lot more music from Abby in 2018.
