Screening and Panel: Music and the Moon Landing

Neil Armstrong’s one small step was more than just a giant leap for technology, it was a cultural touchstone that defined a generation and is reflected in the music of the 1960s and beyond. Join us for a special screening of the episode “Moon Landing” from the CNN Original Series SOUNDTRACKS: SONGS THAT DEFINED HISTORY. The episode reflects on the Space Race and features historians and musicians from every era who were influenced by the lunar landings. Following the screening, a panel of space and music experts will reflect on the episode and the intersection of music and spaceflight.

Panelists:
– David Grinspoon, astrobiologist and musician
– Miles O’Brien, aerospace journalist
– Asif Siddiqi, historian of science

Moderated by Margaret Weitekamp, National Air and Space Museum curator.
