Staycation, Drop Electric, Sunbathers at Rock and Roll Hotel

Join us January 27 as three of DC’s finest join forces for a rockedelic throwdown.

Staycation
Hailing from the nation’s capital, Staycation evokes sounds of new and old—built on a foundation of dance-inducing grooves, gritty psychedelic rock, soaring solos, and topped off with infectious vocal hooks. Each live show is a unique experience, featuring seamless segues and non-step energy. As Live Music Daily put it, the end result is “less like a show and increasingly like a great party.”

Formerly part of DC Funk Rock group B Side Shuffle, Staycation’s members have been mainstays in the DMV music scene for years, with major festival appearances at the All Good Festival and Camp Barefoot, and flagship venues like the 9:30 Club, Howard Theatre, Baltimore Soundstage, and the 8×10, and sharing stages with nationally-touring artists such as the Revivalists, Moon Taxi, Zach Deputy, Dopapod, and many more.

Staycation is Joseph Dolan (drums), Carter Jones (bass), Will Sautter (vocals/alto sax/keys), and Nick Sus (vocals/guitar).

Drop Electric
Based in a city known for stagnation and business as usual, Washington DC’s Drop Electric exists to tell a different story about the nation’s capital. Drop Electric’s music is a manic barrage of soaring vocals, heavy guitars, atmospheric textures, and tribal percussion, controlled by structured, dynamic songwriting. Their live show has been described as “epic” by NPR’s Bob Boilen and most aptly “…as if the listener has started to sleepwalk through a dark art house film” by the DCist’s Valerie Paschall.

The band released its label debut on Lefse Records in October 2013 to critical praise. Gaining acclaim from NPR, MTVU, and The Washington Post, the band has had its music placed in the trailer for “300: Rise of an Empire” and has had its song “Empire Trashed” played as part of a movie premiere on the International Space Station.

Sunbathers
Sunbathers are an indie rock band that formed in the Fall of 2013. Drawing from a wide range of influences, the band filters their brand of indie rock through a decidedly pop-conscious lens. In November 2015, the band released its debut self-titled EP, and their music has since received regular airplay of Baltimore’s WTMD radio station, and been featured on HypeMachine, Spotify’s “Fresh Finds: Six Strings” playlist, and a multitude of indie music blogs & Youtube channels.
