Line-up: Oisín Mac Diarmada – fiddle , Seamus Begley – vocals, accordion , Seán Gavin – uilleann pipes, flute, Seán Mc Elwain guitar, Samantha Harvey – champion Irish dance, piano
Téada (meaning “strings” in the Irish language) revels in the vibrant traditional music of Ireland. Playing reels, jigs, and hornpipes, the band blends the raw individuality of solo artists with the contagious energy of a modern ensemble.
” Téada are among the youngest of the new crop of Irish musicians but they display a fierce familiarity with the old ways. They represent the strings that bind, a group of young players bent on producing a deeply authentic sound while moving towards the cutting edge of the next generation of traditional practitioners.” — Irish Music Magazine
Touring since 2001 when as teenagers they made their mark on Irish TV, Téada have continued to grow in stature and vision. They’ve been a frequent headliner at major music festivals and large venues around the world. The band received a Yeats 2015 WDC Funding Award for a show production celebrating the Sligo-inspired poetry of W.B.Yeats.
