View the Great American Eclipse – DC

For the first time in almost 100 years, a total solar eclipse will cross the entire United States on August 21! A partial eclipse (with the moon blocking up to 82% of the Sun) will be visible Washington, DC, from 1:17 pm to 4:01 pm , with maximum eclipse at 2:42 pm.

Join us at the Museum in Washington, DC to view the eclipse and participate in eclipse-related activities and programming. Pick up a free pair of eclipse glasses, view the sun through safe solar telescopes, make your own pinhole eclipse viewer, meet Mindy Thomas of NPR’s Wow in the World, and talk to our experts about eclipses.

Programming starts at 10:00 am, and safe solar viewing begins at 1:00 pm.
